Terms of service

Draft — needs the founder's legal review; not legal advice. This page explains in plain words how Third Life works and what we and you are each responsible for. It may change before or after the first sales; changes to the plot terms apply to terms bought after they are published.

1. About these terms

Third Life is a shared 3D town for Tezos art, run by its founder (“we”, “the host”). By entering the town, building, publishing, buying a plot or connecting an AI agent, you accept these terms and the house rules, which are part of them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live, and at least 18 to buy a plot or extra storage. You are responsible for whether using a Tezos wallet and paying in tez is lawful for you.

2. Your wallet

3. Land: a renewable tenure, not ownership

A plot is a renewable tenure: the right to build and show your work on one numbered place in the town, for a paid term. It is not ownership of land, of the town, of the software or of any share in the project, and there is no token or contract behind it. The register of who holds which plot is kept by the island.

The streets, squares, the park, the beach, the promenade and every other common place are never for sale. Buying a plot gives you the right to build and publish on it, with or without an invitation. The plots facing the Palazzo are reserved for the drop's artists and are not for sale; the host can reserve other plots, give plots as gifts and assign plots directly.

4. Prices, terms, renewal and grace

Prices are fixed in tez, by the plot's size and its zone: the sea front and the plots around the Palazzo delle Arti cost more, the countryside less. The purchase price is a round number and covers the first three-month term; when it ends you renew one term at a time, for about a fifth of the price. A second plot costs twice as much, to buy and to renew, and a third four times as much; one wallet holds at most three, and at most two that touch each other.

All figures: Land and plots, generated from the same price table.

5. Payments in tez are final

Your wallet pays the island's treasury directly, in one operation that you approve. The island reads that operation back from the Tezos chain before recording your plot. Network fees are paid by your wallet.

Payments are final. If a payment cannot be applied (for example, someone else's payment for the same plot was verified first, the amount was wrong, or the price changed while your wallet was open), nothing is recorded and the host returns the tez by hand. The island never sends refunds automatically. Apart from such manual corrections, there are no refunds, including when a plot lapses, is taken back for breaking these terms, or when the site changes or closes.

6. Not an investment

A plot is a place to build, not a financial product. We make no promise of profit, value, resale or demand. Do not buy one expecting a return: terms must be renewed, resale is slowed down on purpose, the number and layout of plots can change, and the price of tez moves. Nothing on this site is financial, legal or tax advice.

7. Buying art

The Buy button on an artwork uses objkt's marketplace contract: the purchase is between you and the seller, at the listed price, with royalties and objkt's fee as objkt sets them. We are not the seller, take no commission on artworks, and cannot reverse, refund or guarantee a purchase. Check the work, the artist and the listing before you approve.

8. Your content and the licence you give us

9. NFTs and their metadata

When you hang an NFT, the site records the token reference (contract and id) and shows the token's current public metadata, read from objkt, TzKT and IPFS. We do not verify authorship, ownership of rights, or the accuracy of any metadata, and showing a token is not an endorsement. If the metadata or the files behind it change or disappear, what the town shows changes with them. Display copies made at publish are lighter versions for viewing, not the original work. Tokens stay in your wallet; the site never holds them.

10. AI agents

You may connect an AI agent (ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Cursor or others) to build drafts of your plot. An agent cannot publish, sign or spend tez: you review its draft and publish it yourself, and you are responsible for what you publish. The agent's provider has its own terms and may process what you send it. You can disconnect an agent at any time from your account.

11. Conduct and moderation

The house rules apply everywhere on the site. The host may pause chat, remove a person from a room, hide a gallery sign or a gallery world, take a published plot off the map, suspend a creator or take back a plot, without notice when the matter is urgent (illegal content, scams, harassment). Moderation decides what this site shows; it never touches tokens on the chain.

12. Suspension and termination

13. Third parties

The site depends on services we do not control, each with its own terms and privacy policy:

We are not responsible for their availability, their content, or what they do with your data. A link out of Third Life always warns you first.

14. Availability and no warranties

Third Life is young, built and run by a small team on free hosting plans, and offered as is and as available. It may be slow, full (the town holds 50 people at once), interrupted, changed or lose data. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted service. Keep your own copies of your work.

15. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, the value of tez or tokens, or losses caused by wallets, the Tezos network, objkt, IPFS, Cloudflare or other third parties. Our total liability to you for anything related to the site is limited to the tez you paid us for plots and storage in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

16. Privacy

What the site stores

What your browser stores

The site keeps working data in your browser's storage (localStorage, IndexedDB and Cache Storage): your drafts, your nickname and avatar choice, small settings, caches of artworks and your imported models, and NFT display copies. It stays on your device; clearing site data deletes it, including unpublished drafts. Your wallet connection keeps its own data. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data, show advertising or build profiles of visitors.

Deletion and your rights

You can delete your gallery worlds and agent drafts yourself, disconnect agents and sign out. To ask for a copy of, a correction to, or deletion of anything else the site holds about your wallet, write to the host (see contact). We will delete what we can; we cannot delete what is on the Tezos chain, and we may keep payment records we need for accounting or the law.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date below shows the current version. Changes to prices and plot terms apply to terms bought after they are published; for other important changes we will give notice on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept it.

18. Contact

To be completed by the founder: the operator's name, a contact address for questions, reports, appeals and privacy requests, and the governing law and courts.
