Getting started

What you need, how to get in, how to move, talk, collect and share. Ten minutes from nothing to standing in the square.

What Third Life is

A shared 3D town for Tezos art that runs in an ordinary browser, on a computer or a phone. The mainland is a coastal village in the style of old Europe: stone squares, cobbled streets, a beach and a pier, the Palazzo delle Arti and its civic exhibitions, and 67 numbered artist plots (31 of 16 m, 26 of 32 m, 5 of 48 m, 5 of 80 m). Invited artists build galleries on their plots and hang their NFTs; everyone else walks in, looks, meets people and collects.

Besides the mainland there are gallery worlds (a gallery of your own, free to make and explore) and a free builder that needs no wallet.

A wallet

Third Life uses your Tezos wallet as your identity. Signing in is a message your wallet shows and you approve: it spends no tez and moves nothing. A purchase (an artwork, a plot, extra storage) is always a separate operation, with its amount shown in your wallet.

DeviceWhat works best
ComputerKukai (web, at wallet.kukai.app) or the Temple browser extension. Choose Connect wallet and pick yours.
Android phoneKukai on the web, in the same browser. The connection opens Kukai in a new tab; approve there and come back.
iPhone or iPadThe Kukai app. The connection hands over to the app; approve there and return to the browser.

Nobody from Third Life will ever ask for your seed phrase, private key or password, in chat, by message or on any page. The site never needs them. A page or a person asking for them is a scam.

Your sign-in lasts 8 hours on that browser. Disconnect wallet in your account panel ends it at once.

Entering

  1. Open the home page and press Enter, or go straight to the town.
  2. Write the name others will see (up to 24 characters). It is a nickname, not an account.
  3. Connect your wallet and approve the sign-in message.
  4. You arrive on the arrival square, by the fountain and the gazette board.

The town holds up to 50 people at once (a gallery world 20). If it is full you see “The square is full — try again in a few minutes” and the page tries again by itself.

Visiting is open to any wallet. Claiming a plot, building and publishing need an invitation from the host, a gifted plot or a purchased one. There is no open registration.

Collecting art

Click, tap or press E on any artwork (in the Palazzo, on a plot, in a gallery world). Its panel opens with the work, title, artist, description, editions, owners and royalties. When an edition is for sale on objkt, the panel shows one button: Buy · price ꜩ, marked Primary (sold by the artist) or Secondary (sold by a collector).

  1. Press Buy. If you are not connected, your wallet connects first.
  2. The site checks the listing again at that moment. If the price or the listing changed, it shows you the new one and you decide again; it never substitutes silently.
  3. Your wallet shows the operation: one edition, the price and a network fee. Approve it there.
  4. When the chain confirms, you see You collected…, with links to TzKT and objkt and a ready-made post to share.

The purchase happens on objkt's marketplace contract, between you and the seller. Third Life is not the seller, takes no commission on artworks and cannot reverse a purchase. Royalties go to the artist and objkt's own fee comes out of the seller's share. Check the work and the artist before you buy: anyone can mint a token, and its metadata is not proof of who made it.

Sharing

Links arrive through the sign-in and then take you straight to the place.
